These meters may come with crystalized preservative liquid on the probe. Please rinse probe off. We recommend getting a small jar and soak the probe in 2 inches of bottled water (not distilled water). Minimum Soaking time 2-3 hours before calibration. Just remember to keep probe when not in use wet at all times. The item is not defective and this can happen to probes during transit, some leakage and crystallization on the side of probe
Portable pH and Temperature Meter
The MW102 is an economical portable meter. This meter uses a BNC connector for the pH electrode input allowing for a wide selection of pH electrodes to be used. A separate temperature probe is supplied to provide temperature compensated pH measurement.
The MW102 is very basic in operation with automatic calibration to one or two points to any of the three programmed buffer values (pH 4.01, 7.01, and 10.01). The simplicity in operation and the economical price point has made the MW102 one of the most popular meters available in the market.
Simple Calibration
MW102 has automatic calibration. To calibrate the MW102 with the meter on simply:
Place the pH and temperature probe in pH 7.01 buffer
Press the "CAL" button
When the "pH7.01" blinking on the display stops and hourglass disappears then Press "CFM"
Press the "On/Off" button to escape for a single point calibration or continue for two point calibration
For two point calibration: pH 4.01 will be displayed and Pressing "CFM" will change the value from pH 4.01 to 10.01
Rinse probes with purified water and place in second buffer.
When the "pH4.01 or 10.01" blinking on the display stops and hourglass disappears then Press "CFM".
Press the "On/Off" button to turn off and exit calibration mode
BNC Universal Connector for pH Electrodes
The MW102 has a BNC connector for pH electrodes
Allows for any pH electrode with a BNC connector to be used
Supplied with SE220 pH electrode which is a PEI plastic body, gel filled, double junction pH electrode for general purpose used.

What is Salt Creep?
Combination pH electrodes have a reference cell filled with solution or gel that is made with potassium chloride (KCl). For Milwaukee we use 3.5M KCl in our reference cell.
A storage solution is added to the storage cap on the electrode to maintain this concentration and to keep both the glass and junction hydrated.
It is perfectly normal to see this salt around the storage cap or around the refill port for refillable probes. It takes a very short time to see the "Salt Creep ". Just wash off with water.
If the solution has dried out in the storage cap the soak in storage solution overnight. If no storage solution is available then use either pH 4 or 7 buffer. This will re-hydrate the glass and junction.
***Never store a pH electrode in purified water for a period of time. It will change the concentration of the fill solution.
